PharMap (Pharmacy Management System) is a desktop-based business management solution developed specifically for pharmacies seeking a reliable and efficient way to manage daily operations. The system helps pharmacy owners monitor inventory, track sales, manage stock levels, generate reports, and improve operational efficiency from a centralized desktop application.
Unlike multi-tenant SaaS platforms, this solution is deployed individually for each pharmacy. Every installation operates as a dedicated environment for a single business, allowing pharmacies to maintain full control over their data and workflow.
The application was built using Laravel for backend services and Angular for the frontend interface. The Angular application is packaged as a desktop application using Electron, allowing pharmacy staff to use the system directly from Windows computers without requiring access through a web browser.
During deployment, each pharmacy is registered and configured with its own business information, branding, and operational settings. Depending on client requirements, the backend can be hosted locally within the pharmacy network or deployed on an online hosting environment while the desktop application remains installed on staff computers.
The system was designed to simplify inventory management, reduce stock shortages, monitor product movement, track revenue, and provide pharmacy owners with clear business insights through detailed reports and analytics.
As the lead developer, I was responsible for system architecture, database design, backend API development, Angular frontend implementation, Electron desktop integration, inventory management workflows, reporting modules, deployment configuration, and overall platform development.
The PharMap (Pharmacy Management System) helps pharmacy owners maintain accurate inventory records, reduce losses caused by stock mismanagement, and gain better visibility into daily sales and profitability. The desktop-first approach provides reliability, fast performance, and ease of use for pharmacy staff.
By combining inventory control, sales tracking, reporting, and operational management into a single platform, the system enables pharmacies to improve productivity and make informed business decisions based on real-time data.
One of the key challenges was delivering a desktop-first application that could operate reliably across different pharmacy environments. Some clients required a fully local deployment while others preferred cloud-hosted backend services. The system was therefore designed with a flexible architecture that supports both deployment models without requiring changes to the user experience.
Another challenge involved maintaining accurate inventory records and stock movement tracking across daily pharmacy operations. The solution includes structured inventory workflows, stock monitoring, sales tracking, and reporting mechanisms that help reduce inventory errors and improve operational visibility for pharmacy owners.
